The trouble with airports is...

Dia daoibh, a chairde.
Tháinig mé ar ais ó Rhodes inniu agus táim tuirseach traochta caite anois. Chaitheamar ceithre uair ar an eitleán. Bhí sé torannach agus níor thug siad greim bia dúinn. Cén fáth?

Considering the fact that each passenger was up at two this morning, and they probably didn’t have time to bless themselves…much less cook breakfast…you would think that the company could spring for the lousy meal (and it was always lousy) on board!!!
Instead, the staff go through the plane, offering small cans of pop for 1.80euro and cans of beer for God knows what. Picture the scene… A plane full of Irish -two o’ clock in the morning - cranky and half cut from the night before yet the staff are recommending beer…is ait an mac an saol!!!

Another thing that struck me, while wiping sleep from my eyes, was the pace at which those in airports work. I understand that it may be warm but surely packing over a hundred people into one single queue when there are two other booths standing empty defies all logic. Waiting in queues could be described as the bane of my life so forgive me for my lack of consideration for those of you in the industry!!!

On a lighter note, while on holidays I was afforded the time to read “The Teenage Dirtbag Years” written by a certain Ross O’ Carroll Kelly. Now, anyone in my profession will be able to see similarities between Ross and a number of their students!!! A good read which is well worth a look.

Pokerface

Tá mé ag dul ar mo laethanta saoire i gceann cúpla lá…ní féidir liom fanacht leis!!! Ní bheidh aon duine in ann dul i dteagmháil liom. Mar sin, chuaigh mé ag siopadóireacht inniu.
After the events of the past couple of days, I thought that I had my share of bad luck for the week. However, I was wrong. It turned out to be window shopping because clever clogs here forgot to bring any source of dosh!!!

On the other hand, I figure I don’t feel quite as bad as that girl Ailsa from the new show, POKERFACE. She could have went away with over 15 thousand but she failed to fold and lost the lot. If you haven’t tuned in yet, below is a quick outline of the programme.

6 contestants, 1 million prize fund on Sunday night, 6 chances to get into the final!!!

*Nightly prize of £50,000
*Each contestant must answer questions in a number of rounds (Answer correctly and get money).
*At the end of each round, one contestant must leave.
*Contestants can fold at the end of the round if the feel they are at the bottom of the leader board and they will get
the money. However, if they fail to fold, and are at the bottom, then they lose everything.

Neat!!!

Turas go dtí an garáiste

Today, Clio and myself took a trip to the garage to get the punctured tyre from yesterday fixed. But when I went out first thing this morning, the spare was also looking a little under the weather. Off we went to get that sorted. A nice helpful man came and perked the spare right up. So, a little amused by the irony of the situation, we headed towards the garage once more.

Ar mo bhealach ansin, bhí orm an carr a stopadh. Bhí oibreacha bóithre ann. Bhí fir ag obair go dian díograiseach, is dócha. Ar aon nós, bhí an bóthar go dona. Bhí poill i ngach áit. D’imigh an gáire orm.

Afterall, here I was, on my way to collect my new and improved front tyre and these Irish roads were conspiring to put a few holes in the four that were now under me.

A Realisation

So today, I realised that I know even less about technology than I first thought. Viewing some of the class blogs here makes me want to give up my chosen career, go back to college and take up some sort of IT course.

Now, some of you may think that might be drastic, however, I have tried and failed for the last two hours to create links to my page!!! As I said, completely hopeless. Computers for Dummies is not big enough for the problems that I have.

On the other hand, bebo seems to have targeted the likes of me quite successfully. It has fail safe procedures to create little icons on your site! However, I may have a word with my more experienced friends and see can they sort me out.

Fingers crossed!!!

Na Laethanta Saoire!!!

Beidh mé ag dul go dtí an Ghréig an tseachtain seo chugainn. Tá mé ar mhuin na muice:o) Tá mé ag dul ann ar feadh cúpla seachtain. Ní maith liom an ghrian ach is aoibhinn liom a bheith ag taisteal. Níl sé ró-chostasach ach an oiread. Ach, ag an bpointe seo, tá mé fós ag obair. Tá campa saoire ar siúl... "Parks Tennis". Is mise an traenálaí. Tá mé ag baint taitnimh as. A Alan, tá do shuíomh go hiontach. Tá sé suimiúil...Bhí tú ag obair go crua ar na sonraí is lú! Conas is féidir liom teachtaireacht a chur chugat??? Nó an féidir liom é sin a dhéanamh? Ó, fuair mé 45 mharc sa "NERD TEST"...ceapaim nach bhfuil an cheart ag an ríomhaire áfach!
